I feel that it depends on how the tyrant is as a person and how much of a hold they have over the people. For instance, North Korea leader Kim Jung Uh basically has his people brainwashed into thinking that what they have is all good and the everyone else is against them accept for those that are on there side. Mainly though I feel that most people would learn to worship a tyrant because they have the rule and say how things will be done and any punishments that would go along those going against him or her. If the people were to love a tyrant I would say it is because he or she manipulates the people in the fact to tell them lies to make them believe he or she is a strong force. Worship would be easiest for people who do not care much for the tyrant because they could just go through the motions of showing their commitment to the leader and just go on with their lives. Plus, if the people go along with what the rules are nothing will happen as long as they follow the rules.

Book 1 Blog 1
Do you believe a totalitarian society could exist in the United States? Why or why not?
I do not believe that a totalitarian society could exist because the fact that the United States has such a diverse population of people. Knowing that I do not believe it would be easy to have someone in charge try to control everything from people's beliefs all the way down to family. With a huge population it would take a while for totalitarianism to spread and to even catch on with people without force. The Thought Police and there ability to basically take anyone away just based on what they think. I do not think many people would like the fact of someone having the power to just take someone away because they are just guessing pretty much that they are thinking against Big Brother or whatever major figure is in power. Also we have been in a democracy for a huge part of U.S. history. Other than the fact that we had to fight against a tyrant of England to allow our freedom. With the history of fighting against the country that settled america (England) to gain our freedom and so I believe the people here already would not agree with a totalitarian society.
